Hello

19 posts in this topic

I've been lurking for awhile now, and have decided to finally introduce myself.

To start I am 25yr old male, and I am graduating with a degree in environmental sciences at the end of this semester!

I found this site while googling something along the lines of why wait, or pros and cons of abstinence etc.

I have a very strong set of values/morals/beliefs, of which define my actions and interactions in every way, things such as respect, responsibility, honesty, honor, loyalty etc, basically treating everyone as I wish to be treated in return. This has led to some really great relationships especially in work settings, where I've earned the respect of the "cranky old guys" who everyone else hates, and my past bosses give me amazing references etc. In a social setting, that hasn't had as much opportunity to be realized as I tend to be very quiet and reserved, and have not had much chance to make friends. As well I have an amazing family, which I've been able to live with through school, and didn't have to worry about the extra costs of living away from home while going to school.

I am still a virgin, for a variety of reasons.

Partially due to my circumstances, as growing up I moved around a fair bit. Through high school my peer group was mostly sikh, and relationships were uncommon. I also got into video games at about 14, and didn't have much in the way of close friendships, everyone I knew was into getting drunk on the weekends, and I have never really been interested in that scene and video games and reading is what i did/do instead. University has been much the same. Up until a couple of years ago, being in a relationship never even entered my mind.

A couple of years ago, I got really depressed as I was living the video gamer stereotype, and it bothered me, but I've worked through it, and while I still play video games, and I still live with my mom, brothers and sister, I've come to accept it, and understand myself through the process.

I also lived in low income housing for awhile, after my parents divourced, and most of the ppl in the housing complex had been pregnant as teenagers had to leave high school, as a result their lives were impacted significantly. This gave me another perspective on the consequences of sex.

For a few years, I was very much into watching porn/masturbating frequently, and then about 6? months ago, I realized that it was 100% pointless, fake, and with that realization I just stopped looking at porn, and have had no desire to since. This has contributed strongly to me decided that I want to wait for marriage, as to me, the porn thing is like casual sex, with no benefits other that immediate release.

And so I've decided that sex needs to be for love, and when I am sure beyond a doubt that I love someone, and that she loves me, I suspect I will also know that I want to spend my life with her, and so am more than willing to wait a little bit longer for the official union.

Anyways, I hope I didn't ramble to much, and look forward to being here.

Thanks

-Christoph

Feels like such a small world, I was actually born in Vancouver. When I moved to the US they just called me "an American born abroad" even though i spent the first 8 years of my life as a Canadian. lol. You sound like you would have fit in perfectly at my university, so many people are gamers that our student center has a bunch of huge TV's and gaming chairs with all the different systems and games to rent, and the internet is always slow because too many people play WoW. We're like the anti-party school with nerdy football players. lol. Nice to meet you :)

Sounds alot like the first school I went to - Did two years in computer science at SFU in Surrey, and we had a games room and the library computers had an unreal Tournament version and so everyone had large matches going on,

My current school, UBC-O Is definitely more party oriented though.

I'm from British Columbia, Canada! lol. I currently live in Quebec because I am studying in university, but I have lived the first 18 years of my life in BC and I definitely want to return. I don't miss my parents, but I do miss my Province, and especially my city! SO great to have another member from BC. :)

I have a brother that lives in Montreal, it was so much fun visiting him. I do miss Canada, it is just so different from the US. Georgia is kind of like a different planet compared to Vancouver and Montreal. lol

Hi Chris!! How are you?? Wow you're introduction was very open and honest so it's really neat to hear that! Also, I applaud you for being able to refrain from watching pornography as most men struggle with it since it is so visually stimulating but probably has some harmful effects, but in the long run I'm sure it'll be for your benefit! :) It's also very admirable to see how you've managed to not give up despite your circumstances! You sound like you have admirable characteristics and seem like you'll fit in just perfectly with our other fellow waiters who exhibit similar qualities as you as well, which is nice! Well it's really nice to have you join and we look forward to getting to know you more Chris!! Be Blessed♥

I love BC, and shudder at the thought that I may have to move to Calgary or Toronto or something for work! I want to see as much of the world as possible - but am not so sure about living anywhere else! (well maybe a tropical island...lol)

Unfortunately I have not had an opportunity to see much of the country yet, but one of the things I'd like to do later on, is drive across Canada, I really want to see the Maritime provinces, as well as some of the large cities Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto etc

I'm definitely looking forward to getting to know everyone here, having someone to talk to about this stuff has been something I've been struggling with lately, and am glad to find this place!

Hopefully I can contribute as much as I've already gotten!

Thanks for the kind words!

Hey Chris!! Aww, don't feel too bad if you have to move to Toronto. I live in Toronto, and I've been here for half my life. I LOVE it! It's so diverse here, at least enough diversity that you will almost always find a niche that will disprove any kind of bad stereotypes you hear about Torontonians! (as in... I know that Torontonians are rumoured to be rude and arrogant, but there are plenty of people here who are the exact opposite!)

Plus, there seems to be a lot of waiters here. At least, maybe a bit more than other places, especially if you know which group to hang out with.

Anyway, I haven't been to these forums for a while, and am so glad that we've attracted more newcomers! Every time I come here, it's like ten dozes of happy pills. It just makes me feel so happy!

I know it's the trillionth time that you've been welcomed, but welcome again!! xD

I liked reading your intro because it's been far and few for me to find somebody remotely close to my age who is saving themselves for marriage, let alone be a guy! I've been told, for as long as I've made my promise, that there's no guys out there that are saving themselves and, ha!, they were wrong!

And so I've decided that sex needs to be for love, and when I am sure beyond a doubt that I love someone, and that she loves me, I suspect I will also know that I want to spend my life with her, and so am more than willing to wait a little bit longer for the official union.

So true!

And woot for being a gamer!

Leng : good to know - honestly I'm more worried about large cities hah, I grew up and have lived is smaller populated areas for most of my life, except for a couple of years in Vancouver which I did not enjoy hehe,
