Well I have to admit, I really only listen to J-Pop (Japanese Pop,) J-Rock (Japanese Rock,) and German Pop music. I do listen to English music, but again...it's nearly all Pop (surprise, surprise.) I'm a total girl in the sense that I love Pop music.

Ich bin by LaFee (German Pop)

Durch den Monsun by Tokio Hotel (German Rock)

GO!!! by FLOW (J-Rock)

Owarinai Yume by Nanase Aikawa (J-Pop)

What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger) by Kelly Clarkson (Pop)

Make Me Wanna Die by The Pretty Reckless (Alternative and/or Rock)

The Pretty Reckless is a band that I absolutely adore. It is mostly some sort of mix between Alternative/Pop/Rock. it's a great mix of those genres.

Edit: I meant to say I really only listen to J-Pop, J-Rock, and ENGLISH pop music. German music is pretty weird, and it has nothing to do with me not liking the sound of the German language (obviously I don't mind it, because I know it.)

HW?

Not all classical music is peaceful, though. The piece I've mentioned certainly is!

Linguistics is a huge passion of mine. I have spent many years studying French, Japanese, and now German and Yiddish. I will be moving on to Swedish eventually, and I am starting Russian next university term, I hope. But I started listening to Japanese music way before I could understand it. The instrumentals and melodies made me love the music, regardless of the lyrics. :)

Holy hell, Gil. Another Stabbing Westward fan! Cool!

I tried dusting off my old SW tracks from high school the other day. I used to love them so much, and now they just seem kind of melodramatic and unhealthy. I think that means I'm maturing haha. Not to knock them if you still like them. I was a huge fan. I had a fake ID once and used "Christopher Hall" as my fake name (lead singer of Stabbing Westward).

Also, while I'm here. My current favorites:

Tat - Every single song on every CD.

Rush - 2112 (the long version), Red Barchetta, Summertime Blues, The Seeker.

White Stripes - Only the ones that rock, not the indie slow ones so much

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Perfect night biking music

The Muffs - Mainly just their hits, except I don't like Kids in America

Awesome haha. Yeah, I still like them, but you're right, they might be more of a teen angst band.

My avatar/icon is from the Smashing Pumpkins, so I ought to say that most anything by them would be some of my favorite. I don't listen to anything by them made after they reunited in 2007, though.

Some of my favorites:

Iron Maiden - The Trooper, Wrathchild, Run to the Hills - I love most of their stuff - older albums especially

Metallica - Enter the Sandman, Master of Puppets, again most of the older albums not a fan of the newer ones so much.

Rob Zombie - Dragula, Superbeast, Living Dead Girl

Nightwish - Amaranth, Bye Bye Beautiful, Nemo, Turn Loose the mermaids to name a few, again love most of them lol

Lacuna Coil - Spellbound, Enjoy the Silence

Queen - Most of their stuff is awesome! Some favorites : another one beats the dust, bohemian rhapsody, under pressure

Brian Setzer - Stray Cat Strut, Jump Jive an Wail - So much of his stuff just makes me wanna get up and dance'

Blue Oyster Cult - Godzilla, don't fear the reaper

Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing, Money for nothing

Guns N Roses - Appetite for destruction - all I really like of theirs

Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water, Space Truckin'

Smash Mouth - Walkin' on the Sun

ZZ Top - Sharp Dressed Man,

Honestly theres so many I listen to hah - I don't pay much attention to lyrics, its all about the instrumental that has a voice that fits in well for me. I listen to symphonic metal, heavy metal, power metal, most types of rock. The only music I really don't like is rap and country.

I had to laugh when someone mentioned doing homework to classical - I study and do my homework to metal and heavy rock lol - the beat gets me going and helps keep me focus'd

i have a huge list, but here's the best of the best:

  • florence + the machine
  • innerpartysystem
  • amethystium
  • within temptation
  • nightwish(despite their poorly translated lyrics...)
  • syntax
  • saosin
  • sleepthief

i'm big on singles, though.. i never buy albums. but yeah, guess my favorites fall somewhere in the range between indie, alternative and electronic/ambient. i have songs from pretty much every genre, though. folk, rap, contemp christian, swing, pop, metal, classical...

I'm for the most part a metalhead. I mainly like 'old school' heavy metal, industrial metal, gothic metal and symphonic metal.

Some of my favourite metal bands:

Iron Maiden

Judas Priest

Rammstein

Sabaton

Epica

Nightwish

Slayer

Fear Factory

Nile

Metallica (old stuff only, nothing beyond The Black Album)

I also like hardrock. Some of my other favorites:

Guns N' Roses

Deep Purple

Led Zeppelin

And last but not least, I appreciate classical music. Mostly Mozart, Bach and Wagner.
