Favorite Books/Authors

11 posts in this topic

So, I am what you could call a binge reader. I love reading, and when I get going I'll read a few books at a time. Then I won't read anything for a few days, weeks, or even months. I'm getting that itch, again. I've got a few ideas in mind about what I'd like to read, but I thought it might be fun to see what others favorite books/authors or even genres are...

I'll start...

I love

•time travel books

•period books

•VC Andrews books

•Sherlock Holmes novels

•Ayn Rand novels

•Steven King novels

•Nicholas Sparks novels

•mystery

•WWII related

and some of my favorite books are...

The Mirror by Marlys Millhiser

The Hunger Games series

The Dead Zone

1984

The Diary of Anne Frank

to name a few...

Eoin Colfer is my absolute favorite author. Artemis Fowl and Airman are my favorites. I grew up with the Artemis Fowl series. Started it when I was 10, and the series finished when I was 17, so even though the books are for a younger audience, I still enjoy them.

As a child, I loved Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson.

Then I got a bit older and my favorite book was Finding Alice by Melody Carlson, which I still really love. It's about a young college-aged girl with Schizophrenia and it kind of plays along with the story of Alice in Wonderland.

Now days, my favorite books are by Tricia Goyer. She writes amazing historical fiction set in WW2. Especially her first, called Night Song. :)

Good reads!

I like a lot of YA fiction, biographies and other stories ( not sure what they would be classified as).

My favourite books are always changing :) but I will name a few.

So far I love:

Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman

I think I will forever love the Princess Diaries series lol

Sarah's Key

Kindred

The Kane Chronicles

Speak

Persepolis

Of Mice and Men

Right now I'm trying to read The Catcher in The Rye.

Have you seen the movie for Flowers in the attic?

I have. It's not a great adaptation from the book. So, if you watch it, take it with a grain of salt. They didn't do a great job, but it was ok.

I totally reread the entire series last time I was an au pair. The oldest child had the first eight books, and I borrowed the others from the library. They're great books!

I've always had a soft spot for Harry Potter. I tend to like anything supernaturally oriented in general.

When I was a kid, I loved Roald Dahl and Lemony Snicket.

I used to love JK Rowling and the Harry Potter books (I still love them, but I haven't read them in ages).

Right now, my favourite writers are CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien (Jack and Tollers), and Alexander McCall Smith.
