Do you have any horrible habits?

16 posts in this topic

I bite my nails. Now, lots of people say that. But they usually mean "nibble," or "lightly pick." No, I bite my nails, chew them down to the core, and pick at them too. It's horrible. My fingernails look thoroughly gnawed. I have been biting my nails since I was a toddler and only stopped for about a month in grade 8 or so. This is not a behavioral thing: I can be very happy and relaxed and I'll still chew my nails, not just when I'm nervous or upset. But I'm not trying to quit. No one dies from a nail-biting/picking habit. Plus, it would be weird to have long, evenly-layered nails.

I also pick at the skin on my lower lip. It makes my lower lip look very chapped and dry. That habit isn't really a safe one, seeing as it can leave scarring. Again, it is not triggered by any emotion. I just do it. I think it is because of my AD(H)D.

Sorry if that was a bit gross.

I pick at my skin all the time. There are scabs all over my arms, and they don't heal because I keep picking them. I also pick at my face, so that is just a total mess. I think it's kinda of my OCD but I've done it since I was little so I think it's also a way I de-stress, and comfort myself when I get nervous. It's not my ADD though because when I take my medicine I still get the urge to pick.

Mine is a little gross to.

I used to bite the inside of my cheek without really thinking about it. I did it so often that the inside of my cheeks looked like the outside of the joker's face in dark knight. There is still some scarring, but a lot of it has healed since I stopped. I also used to chew my nails nonstop, which was part of the reason I was always getting sick. I ended up going for hypnosis to stop it and I haven't done either bad habit since! Now I'm constantly having to clip my nails, I never realized how fast they grow when left alone. lol

When my OCD kicks in I have to do everything 5 times and I don’t finish my sentences because I think that people will get what I’m saying. And I don’t know if this is a bad habit, but I think too much, add that with and ADD, I say up late at night overthinking things, which leads to my insomnia.

One of my habits is when I get stressed I kind of gently tug on the hairs on my eyebrows.  I've been doing it for years, but have recently learned that it's actually a natural form of stress relief.  Provided you don't yank out your hair, it's perfectly healthy and good for stress relief.  I do also chew on my lips, and that one isn't anywhere as useful, but it's still a habit of mine.

I play with my hair a lot, especially when I'm nervous. I also itch my nose a bunch, especially when my allergies are flaring up.

Way too many ;) I tend to bite my nails and pull out my facial hair. Or sometimes when I am really stressed I bite hard on my teeth causing severe pain.

I grind my teeth when I'm mad or stressed. Pulling on my eyebrows and eyelashes. I also do that cracking thing with my toes.

One of my weird habits is that I tend to  'zone out' and think of crazy random things that are out of this world. If you have seen how J.D from Scrubs daydreams and then snaps back  to it saying something so out of topic then you know what am talking about. I can be talking to someone or just see something and I start thinking of things like how cooler it would be to live with mammoths or why did all the cool animals have to go extinct and leave the other useless ones like reptiles and spiders (am really into that kind of stuff :) ) and I get back to earth and am like damn how did I get here hehe..crazy I know but you kind of get the picture

But my most annoying habit is that I look down or straight ahead all the time while walking  and  people think that I ignore them because I just walk past them  without  saying hi. You don how many times  I have had to apologize to people trying to explain that I did not , in all honesty, see them and them giving me advice of how I should stop it (which I never been successful up to date)

And my last one is that I sometimes talk out loud when am really stressed or overthinking something and I can't stop worrying about it even when am around other people. It is kind of embarrassing and I have tried to stop it but I can't guess I inherited it from my great-grandma :(

sorry 4 the  long list  :)

Um oh I don't know I just watch some porn and street race not bad at all. Oh who am I kidding of course those two habits are terrible! I pray that I get rid of the first one and I admittedly still enjoy the street racing but if I'm gonna be a cop I will have to stop the racing. I can't wait to get done with school and get rid of the Internet for a while to quit the degrading porn habit. What kind of woman would desire me? I may not have many bad habits but those two are bad enough to keep me single forever :(

I have a dreadful hair twiddling habit - I get a lock of hair and twist in around in my hand. It's normally done unconsciously when I'm concentrating on something else. The kids I teach have picked up on it and some of them have started doing it themselves - eek!
