Having Pets :-)

30 posts in this topic

Are you an animal person? Would you prefer a dog or cat or something else? Adopt an animal immediately in marriage? Would it bother you if your significant other wasn't an animal person?

I personally LOVE dogs and rabbits. I go all out for my babies! I think the kind of guy I would go for would love animals, so it shouldnt be a problem, unless he was into tarantulas or something, he can invest in that hobby on his own... lol

When I was younger I liked having fish and turtles, but I started having trouble when the female fish started giving birth all the time (it was usually around 100) and they all died after awhile. So, yeah don't want any of those now ^_^ I'm not a cat person but I love dogs, especially when they're little and cute!

Edit: Oh yeah and it would be important to me that my SO liked dogs too. Not a deal breaker, but a definite plus :)

I love all animals, except maybe snakes and rats. lol :P I am a complete dog person. Cats are okay but I prefer dogs. It may sound weird but it is actually a turn off when a guy is a cat person. Not a deal breaker but a turn off. He probably would have to at least be ok with having a dog and in return we can have one cat. lol

We've had a similar-named topic in which people listed the pets that they had. Since the purpose of this thread is more of "Are you an animal person, would it bother you if your SO wasn't, etc.", I think it's best if I rename the title of this thread. Too bad I have no idea how to do that, lol!

I LOOOOVVEE animals more than people sometimes :P I grew up around all kinds of animals growing up we had dogs, cats, and guinea pigs, My cousin had a huge snake, my neighbor had a rabbit.

So me being without a pet makes me feel like Im missing something, I have always wanted an "exotic pet" like an iguana but I hear that is a big hassle.

I love dogs I want one now so badly :( I find myself viewing loads of puppy porn (a term for a photo overload or video of puppies doing cute things like puppy bowl) I want a big dog.  I also have been thinking about getting a kitty as they are really good for cuddling at night thats about the only thing I miss with having a cat. My mom has two babies one is a german shephard mix and the other is a french bulldog, they are the sweetest things *sigh* I miss them.

My SO will have to love animals otherwise he would be suffering because Im getting a pet anyway.

Dogs and rabbits are cool, I used to dive a lot and had a shark swim around me for a while then he/she came closer but I didn't feel threatened so as it went past and I hopped onto his back/ tail and held on for a few seconds before it got fed up of me and went deep far to fast for me to clear my ears so I let go. Fantastic moment.

I love bunnies, kittens and puppies :) Just as long as they will forever stay tiny, because larger or even some medium sized animlas tend to scare me.

I have always wanted a kitten!! I just love cats so much. I am definitely a cat person. I also love bunnies. Maybe one day I'll get a rabbit. I have never had a pet before in my life, so I definitely want one when I get a bigger place to live in.

Or maybe I'll get a teacup pig! lol.

I love animals - we have 3 cats right now(I live at home), when I was younger we had a great dane, 7? cats, two horses, ~5 or so cows, chickens, ducks, geese etc - a hobby farm, even a pet rabbit, pigs at one point as well.

Happy when sailing - that sounds like a totally awesome moment - would love to learn to dive some day!

No that's ok! I think there is a way to add tags, but I'm not sure how to do that either, lol! How did I get this administrative position?

It was Batman Returns.  Long before he was dangling Heath Ledger off of construction sites, Batman was combating penguins with rockets strapped to their backs.

I have a quaker parrot named Cabbage and a cockatiel named Norman.  They're mah buddies.

My icon lol. XD

I love dogs and rabbits, but I would more likely get a rabbit. I just had to put down my dog (he had cancer and broke his legs-which weren't healing) that was with me since I was five years old and it crushed me. I don't want to go through that again, I was so attached... but I may change my mind when I've had some more time to heal.

Chinchillas are also very cute! I want one! Birds are adorable as well once they get used to you. Some clean your eyelashes! XD I also want an eevee and pikachu. :P

I like animals.  I've had dogs and cats. I have never had the chance to own snakes or rabbits. Where I live people, sometimes, drop their pets near my house. My family takes care of them.

Here are my two cockatiels! I love having them to chirp to welcome me when I walk in the door.post-843-0-58871500-1377611992_thumb.jpg

I am more of a small animal person. It wouldn't be a big deal if my SO was or wasn't an animal person--not a deal breaker at all.

Aww, they are so cute! I love cockatiels.

I am very much an animal person and would love to have pets. At the moment I'm not able to have any because I live in a small apartment and I'm not sure how long I will be in Korea for. When I get married and settle down I would love to get a cat and a dog.

I love animals and would love to have a few one day!! I've never really had a pet and would LOVE to have a cat. That's the first thing I want when I have a place of my own as I've wanted once since I was 3 (I'm now 24). As I've never been able to have one I've read loads about them (and watched loads of cat videos) I know more about cats than most cat owners lol. I'm not a dog person at all. I can quite safely say if it's up to me I am 99% sure I will never have a dog. There's a chance I'll get a very small one though as I think greyhounds and miniature daschunds are lovely.

I love animals! I've had two cats and a guinea pig. I love cats but am allergic to them so unless I could find a hypo-allergenic(sp?) cat I won't be getting one. I think I want a dog in the future though once I move out but not sure I could handle one. You have to do all those things with them, like take them for a walk (which I tried with my cat once. Doesn't work. They just like to lay there) but I don't know if I'll have the time for it.

If anything me and my future hubs would probably have a cute puppy that becomes a small dog and not until WELL into marriage probably a couple years. Puppies are sooo cute! :)

Puppies are very cute, but I'm not sure I would want to own one. I kind of have a thing with germs and owning a pet would be problematic for me. If I did own a dog, it would have to be very, very well trained. It would have to stay off the furniture, know not to lick me, and be very obedient (the last one is for more than just germ reasons). There might be other things it would have to know not to do, as well.

As far as cats go, the thing with germs still applies. In addition to that, if I owned a cat, I would have to train it to be like a dog. Cats have an attitude problem. They think it's their house and that they are putting up with you. In reality, you're taking care of them and paying to feed them. It bugs me that cats are like this. I would have to train it to be more like a dog and to listen to commands. (I've looked it up and apparently it is possible).

In sum, I'm not sure I would own a cat or a dog, but I would rather a dog than a cat.
