  1. What Matters Most?

Matter the most: sexual history and kindness. Matter quite a bit: looks and political views Matter somewhat: religious beliefs and intelligence Don't matter: humor and financial success (as long as she doesn't have loads of debt)
  2. The Prodigal Son

I find the whole Prodigal Son thing to very unfair to the other son. With today's society in general, it feels like the people who do wrong things for much of their lives and then repent are better rewarded than the people who were good all along. I'm an atheist, so I want to hear from the Christians as to what your thoughts on the Parable of the Prodigal Son are. Atheists tend to be very non-judgemental, but I'm in the odd position of being more judgemental than Christians, since I'm a lot more reluctant to forgive.
  3. Offensive words for guys

Men tend to deal better with adversity, so no matter what words you use, women are going to find insulting words towards them more hurtful than men will. However, I would argue that swear words against men are not nearly as effective as words such as "loser" or "creep".
  4. I guess it is because I'm atheist, but the way I see it once you lose your virginity you have lost it. You may choose to change your behavior and live a chaste life from now, and that'll be a bonus for you in my book. However, your current behavior doesn't change the fact that you had sex in the past.
  5. Shaving Off Hair

I'd be really annoyed. I'm willing to maintain my grooming and appearance to make myself presentable to my partner. I would expect her to do the same. And yes, short hair is unattractive, and a bald head very much so.
  6. Stay-at-Home Dad

I wouldn't mind it personally. However, I've seen a lot of couples in which the wife has lost respect for her husband because he stays at home. For that reason, I'd be wary of it.
  7. Interesting. I'll revise my earlier statement and say that the percent of virgins must be roughly equal in both sexes. For your statistics, you should note that not all people who wait till marriage are virgins, and not all virgins are waiting till marriage. Regarding college stats, I'd think Duke must be an anomaly (might have something to do with it being in the South). The largest survey I've seen of students across campuses (https://www.ncjrs.gov/pdffiles1/nij/grants/221153.pdf) shows that 42.8% of males have had 0 sexual partners, while 37.2% of females have had 0 sexual partners. Of course, your NCHS statistics show that the percent of virgins in the general population is basically the same for both sexes.
  8. Actually there are more virgin men than women. I guess that's another example of society propagating false ideas.
  9. Where do you stand, politically?

I'm far left with some traditional conservative positions thrown in.
  10. Fave Girl Hairstyles

Long hair that's wavy, smooth, or fluffy. Also, I think bangs are cute, though most guys probably disagree.
  11. Sorry for the late post guys. Here's a link to the website from which I got the gender breakdown for won't date a virgin: http://www.hookingupsmart.com/2013/02/07/hookinguprealities/matchs-2012-singles-in-america-survey/ Other websites quote an aggregate 42% figure (not broken down by gender) for the percent that wouldn't date a virgin. Unfortunately, I don't think the full survey results were publicly released, so I had to piece together the statistics from various media sources.
  12. Definitely! Yes, we wouldn't be able to complement each other's strengths and weaknesses, but shared goals and mindset would be very nice.
  13. Well, it's within the margin of error. In general though, that's not surprising. Since women prefer older men, there tend to be more male virgins, especially at a young age.
  14. Also, 13% (I haven't seen a breakdown by gender) said they'll wait till marriage before having sex with a new partner.
  15. So a survey of American singles found that 24% of men and 23% of women who are single and aged 21-34 are virgins. On the other hand, 33% of men and 51% of women surveyed said they wouldn't date a virgin.
